Lights

Hi Ladies,

Merry Christmas! Although this isn’t the actual birthdate of our Savior, I celebrate because it is the blessed season that Christianity has set aside for acknowledging and honoring His birth. It is also the time that we can feel most harried, with days speeding by like the lights on this Christmas display, blurred in the photo as we zoomed along intent upon seeing every light in the neighborhood.

Also at Christmastime, we ladies can experience anxiety or impatience depending upon our expectations, especially if awaiting the arrival of God’s promised mate. That husband can seem to be either a long way off, an empty expectation, or an unreasonable delay being perpetrated by our Lord!  Not true, of course, but you still may be wondering what, if anything, can be done about the situation. You might have grown tired of spending another year attending the weddings of friends, or weary of yet another holiday without your ordained spouse. And family members at festive gatherings seldom help with their well-meaning inquiries about your dating life.

We’ve come to the point now where I wish I could offer “Ten Easy Steps to Achieve Your Goal of Marriage”; or “Eighteen Fool-Proof Ways to Attract a Mate”; or “How to Go from Single to Married in Thirty Days or Less”. But you already know there are no such secrets or hidden ways to circumvent God’s processes in your life. There are only the steps that He has mandated for you to walk, and your prayers, which He has already answered, even if they haven’t yet arrived in the flesh.

WARFARE PRAYER: “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and  effective.”   – James 5: 15

Your prayers without doubt are your most potent weapon, suited for a variety of purposes, particularly when directed to specific areas under God’s leading.   During the years after my divorce when I became a saved single mother, there was no potential husband in sight. But while impatiently waiting and prayerfully pleading, I received revelation from Father God that I needed to clear the path for my future husband’s arrival. I was instructed to intercede for him…not just pray for his manifestation into my life, or about what I wanted him to be. These personal prayers are fine, but they are also incomplete.

When you’ve made the decision to pray consistently for a mate, you are actually about to launch warfare praying, and you will be entering different and far more intense territory than what’s required by general prayers. In beseeching Heaven for such a special request, you’re signifying readiness to do battle in the spiritual realm. Satan is ever vigilant, and when you pray for this kind of explicit objective, you will confront the full onslaught of forces seeking to impede or derail you from your intended course of action.

Be aware of the enemy’s tricks, but never fearful because our Lord has given you the most powerful of all weapons to be used to defeat him – the rights of Binding, of Loosing, and of Intercession. Matthew 18: 18 declares “Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” And this applies to praying for a mate. It is not merely an allegory that Jesus is recounting here.   He is announcing that you have both the authority and the ability to confront the devil, and to prevent evil influences from overcoming you, your loved ones, and the people you choose to pray for.

You can deflect or thwart satanic activities if what you seek to “Bind”, or prevent, on earth are his evil works. The activities you want to “Loose”, or enable to come about, are the works of Holy Spirit to combat and defeat the adversary. This is an exercise of faith and of the power of prayer that enables a woman to stand firm for any vision, including a vision about either her future or existing marriage. Next week we’ll discuss “Intercession”, an essential weapon of warring for and releasing your mate.

Until then, Blessings of the Season…Joy and Shalom!
