Hi Ladies,

If waves are crashing down around you, and things appear to be chaotic and unsettled, know that God has you covered, and that you are safe in His hands, no matter what seems to be going on. He can calm the storms in your environment, and the ones in your heart and head. That’s a major benefit of being a Daughter of the King of kings. Our Father is the God of the storm. Psalm 107: 29 recounts “He caused the storm to be still, so that the waves of the sea were hushed.” Stillness, quietness, calmness and peace are all attributes that our Father places within us when we rest in Him.

Waiting:

“So how does this pertain to my desire to be married?” you may wonder. It matters a great deal because only when we trust and have faith in the Lord, can He move to bring our desires to pass. When we manifest “the peace of God which passes all understanding…” (Philippians 4: 7), we demonstrate that we believe in Him and His Word, and in His good will toward us. And, also in His ability and willingness to answer our prayers.

How we handle waiting is of great importance. Waiting is the circumstance that shows our level of commitment to Jesus Christ, and to His processes as they are being demonstrated in our life. And when we receive the answer that we’ve been praying and believing Him for, our joy and our testimony conveys His faithfulness to those around us. They too are waiting and believing for something, for an answer that has yet to arrive in their lives. And you are the example that God answers prayer.

Speaking Up:

“I understand that I have to wait on God, but when am I ever allowed to act? There are things I should be able to do to help bring my husband, and I don’t believe God intends for me to always be a passive observer. That’s just not in my nature.”

That may be perfectly true, but there’s little to be done if your path forward in the Father’s plan requires you to shelve your own plots and strategies. He may need you to relinquish the desperate need to make a move, and instead as Psalm 46: 10 advises, “Be still and know that I am God”.

“Well, I believe that the Lord must have something for me to do. He can’t always want me to sit back and look for Him to do everything.”

To a large degree that’s true – our Father works through people to manifest His Will. He values Believers who are ready to take the actions that He directs them to, but He has to do the directing, provide the instructions, and lead the way.

An excellent example of this type of God-ordained speaking up is in Esther 4:14, when Mordecai urges Esther to intervene with King Ahasuerus to save the lives of the Jews… “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place – but you and your father’s house will perish. Who knows whether you have attained royal status for such a time as this?” This was not a time for Esther to remain quiet because she had been chosen by God Himself as the instrument of deliverance for His people.

But discernment is required to know when God is truly leading you to speak. He will show you what to do or say, if you’re willing to listen. Be open to follow and obey because He will often alter your surroundings and circumstances through situations that may seem as unsettling as the impact of crashing waves.

But new environments and people force us to grow by breaking up old patterns and shifting us into unfamiliar territory. Engrained habits and attitudes must be put aside, as He sets us upon a new path. And by His Grace, we’ll learn to make behavioral and attitudinal adjustments which will bring positive changes. So, listen hard to know if God is leading you to speak up!

Until next week…Joy and Shalom!
