Fire heart

Hi Ladies,

Is your heart burning, and your head spinning? Are the flames of anticipation, anxiety, and impatience obscuring your Vision of marriage or your hearing from God? Depression, futility, and anger are all attacks of the enemy, and are among the biggest obstacles you’ll face as you come to grips with the reality of God’s timetable.

We all believe, for some reason, that we can hurry up or urge God along, or that we can beg and cajole Him into acting on something we desire. But after we’ve done all that we can and have failed, we must come to the realization that we’re helpless. As Job 6: 8 cries, “Oh, that I might have my request, that God would grant me the thing that I long for!” Psalm 69: 3 laments “I am weary with my crying; my throat is dry; my eyes fail while I wait for my God.” And Psalm 6: 3 declares “My soul also is greatly troubled; but You, O LORD – how long?”

The reality is that no matter how hard we try, we still can’t accomplish our goals without God. This is often a hard lesson to learn, and it is very easy to sink into a state of depression when the reality hits us. We cry, “What’s the use?” We pout and accuse God of lying. We grumble, “You’re never going to do it”, and secretly hope that He’ll actually do the opposite just to prove us wrong.

These are negative, destructive, self-fulfilling statements, and a marriage-minded woman has much better things to do than to waste time trying to get back on track after the setbacks that these accusations will bring. Satan, however, would like nothing better than to see you wallow in them.

Depression and Futility

Depression and a sense of helplessness are two of the most effective weapons he has against the single lady Believer, because too often we don’t realize their source. We think it’s “just me”, and that feelings of anxiety, confusion, and anger toward Our Father for “withholding” our heart’s desire are natural. But these thoughts are planted by the adversary of our soul. They are among the most potent weapons in his arsenal, and he does not hesitate to use them against us in an attempt to damage or destroy our relationship with God.

We must see depression and brokenheartedness for what they really are…Satan’s arrows specifically designed to steal, kill, and destroy. But John 10: 10 assures us “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

The Lord is completely aware of how impatient you feel. However your human scale perspective is so different from His that you cannot even begin to understand how He views your life unless you understand what He Himself has to say about it. If you turn to God in prayer, and read His Word, you’ll be much better able to remove the negative seeds that Satan is trying to plant within you.

Faith – The Antidote

Psalm 145: 14 – “The LORD upholds all who fall, and raises up all who are bowed down.”; Psalm 55: 22 – “Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you.”; Psalm 40: 1 – “I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry.”; Psalm 27: 14 – “Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD!

So, what is the Bible saying? #1 – Although depression and futility will strike, your faith, demonstrated by your patient waiting, will overcome them. #2 – The Lord will strengthen and sustain you while you wait. #3 – God will move and bring your hopes and desires to pass in His appointed time. It is too easy to become weary with praying and waiting for a specific event, such as a promised husband, to arrive. But, if God has said that it will come to pass, it is already done! Praise and thank Him for it!

Until next week, Joy and Shalom!
