Hi Ladies,

#10 of the 12 Ways to Know He’s the Right Man for You is that You have heard from God about him. You’ve prayed and gotten a Yes from Our Father – He approves!

When deciding to marry, or make any other important life decision, if proceeding with an action is in His Will, The LORD will let you know. And if it is not His Will, you’ll know that as well.   He will never allow you to enter a bad situation blindly, and if you’re feeling hesitant, that check on your spirit is likely a warning from Him.

Here’s an important scriptural sequence to consider:

I John 5: 14, 15 – “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

I Peter 5: 8, 9 – “Be sober, be vigilant: because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith…”

I Peter 5: 10 – “But, may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen and settle you.”

Seek out the peace of mind that comes when the attacks of doubt and fear from the enemy have been silenced, and God has settled your spirit over your course of action.

The Gift

As a single Believer, you’ve been given a very special gift – the opportunity to maximize the potential that Our Father has placed in you, and to let Him guide in your selection of a mate. As 1 Corinthians 7: 34 notes, “The unmarried woman careth for the things of The LORD, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.”

While unencumbered by matrimony, you have the choice to do it right, and not to settle for less than Our Father’s best. You don’t need a knight, or a knight-pretender, bringing shiny baubles when you yourself are a treasure, of great worth both to Almighty God and to any potential suitor.

Jesus Christ is our strong foundation, the rock upon which all Faithful must maintain our footing, and we can trust that He is guiding our path as we follow Him daily. He is the only One who knows the way.  But ladies today face situations inconceivable in biblical times.

Scripture says little about single women, perhaps because there were few. A girl resided with her father until she was married off, often to the highest bidder for the so-called “bride price”, or dowry still being extracted from suitors in some cultures.  At that point, she became the property of her husband, and possibly one of multiple wives.  This practice of collecting females, though generally frowned upon by religious leaders, kept the population of single women small.

Now, of course, girls are no longer handed off at auction. And with unrestricted societal tolerance, it has become even more critical to make good decisions, based upon The LORD’s guidance and with input from godly family and friends.

Your motivation must come from within, from possessing a right attitude, and from your habitation by the Holy Spirit. But you must always stay conscious of the voice of Our Father.  Otherwise, loneliness, or a deep craving to be a married woman, or the desire to be the main attraction in a wedding, or a fear of being childless, can propel you toward an unwise union.

Understand your own worth and value yourself. Beginning with the celebrated arrival of First Lady Eve, a woman of God has always been a tremendous blessing to the man who finds her.  And you still are!  Pray, listen, and only act when God tells you to.  You’ll be assured, then, that your ordained fellow has His complete approval.

Until next Wednesday…Joy and Shalom!
